More and more people are being affected by stress…will you be next?
In 2014, work related stress or depression accounted for 39% of work-related illnesses, with a startling 487,000 cases in Britain. The occupations in which work related stress or depression was most present, was unsurprising, with health professionals (in particular nurses), teaching and educational professionals and health and social care professionals (welfare and housing associates) having the highest rates of absence. It is interesting to note what these occupations have in common: the responsibility of someone else’s health/wellbeing. Nevertheless, don’t we all have a certain degree of responsibility? Whether it be bringing up children or looking after a friend/family member/partner. These figures will continue to rise if nothing is done.
